As I work from home and haven’t really been anywhere for a week or so I’ve been watching with interest the ongoing fuel issues which have been blamed on the panic buying.
The question is who really caused the problem?
Was it you?
Was it your neighbour?
Was it the bloke down the road who was filling up jerry cans while filling up his car?
Well, we no doubt have our own opinions on this but I think we need to look at the media as to the cause of the issue.
First reported some days ago by the papers that got everyone rushing to the pumps when we were all being told that that, in fact, was no shortage of fuel by the suppliers, plenty of fuel in the reserves and regular deliveries being made to the stations.
We were told “It’s important to restate that there’s no shortage of fuel, so people should continue to buy it as usual. [For] fuel, as in food, we have a very resilient and robust supply chain. So, as I say, people should continue to shop for fuel as usual.”
